Had lunch at Footscray the other day, and decided to explore the suburb since we were there. The food guide that we were following described the place as "becoming gentrified". Now I had no idea what gentrified meant, and my initial understanding of the word, after looking at the town, was that it was not a good word. But apparently the word means to undergo improvement, or something to that extent.
I do not wish to know what Footscray was like before gentrification then. The street mall, were filled with "Mama"-like shops, and some were half closed. Not to mention the donut I ate, which I suspect was the cause of my diarrhoea for the night. Speaks much of their hygiene.
