Some of lives toughest questions that can only be answered through experience, or is it some of lives dumbest questions.
What does leadership mean? What does sacrifice mean? What does love mean?
About a month left to the semester!! Somehow without the prospect of having to deal with accounting ever again has an uplifting effect. But I still have a stupid management module I have to do...hopefully that doesn't bring me down.

This is so cool. The year uni year hasn't begun yet, and already have singapore church friends who are going to be in the same course as me!! It'll be so exciting, I just can't wait for the semester to begin. I've been so deprived of econs, and finance, I've taken to reading articles in the papers, stopping to look at the exchange rates, and explaining to my dear rachelle economics theories she sometimes can barely grasp. I'm sorry.
Someone tell me I'm going crazy. Deprived of study... that's like skipping school to go to the science centre!!

Today was another adventure in Singapore. Well it wasn't really in Singapore, we went to Pulau Ubin today. Was quite exciting, though I had no idea what we were going to do there. Turns out there are some interesting sites there, OK really there was just one, but it wasn't too shabby for a place like Ubin. We cycled all over the island, and it was dead tiring. Our legs also caved on the way home, and it got quite boring towards the end. After visiting the zoo and Ubin, I now understand why I've not visited these places in over 10 years. It's because there's nothing to see!! And it can all be finished in one day. So I guess the next time I'll ever go back to these places is when I have kids and a family, the whole package. And for some reason I cannot get the song "She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes" out of my head.
Sorry to put in your head (:

A little miscommunication that turned out quite funny between my girl and I.
Rach: Childbirth very painful.
Dan: So how?
Rach: Adopt lor.
Dan: A dog! I don't think a dog and a child is the same thing.
Rach: Adopt.
Dan: A dog?
Rach: A-dopt.
Dan: Oh...adopt...

I love you. Probably don't say it enough or do enough to show you that I do, but that does not mean I love you any less.

I went to the zoo today. The first time I think in over 10 years. It was actually quite exciting at the start, and no doubt very tiring. We walked the whole zoo in one day, saw pretty much all the animals, took quite a few pictures as well. But a trip to the zoo isn't very interesting as all is usually the same, however me being me, I did do something quite stupid. So here goes the story.
I was walking into the reptile area and we headed to the snakes enclosure. The first snake we saw was the King Python. Huge, white, long, scaly looking thing. I thought it might pounce on me any minute so I walked slowly over, and squatted next to the pale looking thing that could have easily been sick. It did not move. So I gained more confidence and started to take pictures. Next up was some lizard looking snake. I then realised to read all the information on the panels about the snakes would take too long. So I resorted to just glancing through. Next up was the rattling snake. I couldn't really see the snake, so I walked closer to the tank. When I finally spotted the snake, I heard a rattling sound coming from the tank so I jumped into the loving hands of my girl, only to see her laughing her head off. Then I realised that the sound had come from the speakers above the tank which was motion activated when people walked close to the enclosure. It was so embarrassing and also frightening.
Well that was my zoo experience for all.

It's been 13 days since the new year and I've not yet really spent time to sit down and seriously plan how I would wish to spend my new year, and what I would really like to achieve. I know these are what people would call resolutions, but I think that that word has lost its true meaning over the years. Question is where do I find the time? Work has me occupied for most of the week day, and my nights are filled with activities. Weekends are filled with time of relaxation from work, and church. Anyway, catching up with friends has been great. I miss the times in OCF.

Matthew 6:34 says "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
I understand the latter part of that verse, as I'm sure we all know that one day will hold its fair share of trouble. But how do we not worry about the troubles of tomorrow, when we know that tomorrow will hold trouble which we know not of. Does that make sense?

I learnt how to play poker over the new year. Got a hang of the game, and it didn't take me long to realize that the aim of the game was not to just string the best set of 5 cards you could form, but also to bluff your opponents into thinking what cards you had in your hand. It was quite fun for awhile, watching others fall for your bluff. But I learnt that not everything always went according to plan. Sometimes my opponents didn't fall for the bluff, sometimes some small action, or speech I said gave me away, and revealed my real hand my accident. I guess some part of life is like poker.
We take risks, we hope that they go well. We put on fronts to bluff others of who we really are. But when that special someone comes along, do we still need to put on that front? They enter the game taking a risk as well. We try to reveal who we really are, but sometimes our bluffs are too good, that they think for one second that they know our hand better than we do ourselves. What do you do then to show who you really are because you don't want them to fall for the bluff?

Happy new year everybody!! I didn't send out new year smses this year thinking that the system would be jammed up with new year msgs flying all over the place. Well I guess the time has come for reflections and resolutions. Reflecting my on resolutions I set out on the first last year, I achieved only 3 of them, out of the 7. Not bad I'd say considering how people forget resolutions so fast and end up never doing them. So resolutions for this year:
1. Consult God first in everything I do this year.
2. Study hard and get 4 H1's for the year.
3. Travel more around Australia during the breaks.
4. Share Christ with 1 person.
5. Learn to fold a shirt (from last year).
6. Read a new book.
There, my resolutions for the new year. So we'll come back in 364 days and see how many of these I've achieved. Happy celebrating everybody!!
