No GST cut but the Government will spend $600 million in skills upgrading and have $2.3 billion more in loans for businesses. What do you think?
A poll on the Channelnewsasia website, and 83% said that more could be done. Quite clearly a sign of dissatisfaction, and I think that it will continue to persist because that's just the way humans, and in particular, Singaporeans are. We think that the government is God, and that it should help in anything we deem is a problem. So if we think taxes are too high, then we want a cut. Even when the skills upgrade and loans for businesses will serve the same purpose.
So what should the government do? I say either cut taxes so that Singaporeans are happy, or educate the entire Singapore on economics 101 so that they understand the effect of the government procedures.
What's the benefit of studying economics if no one is going to understand you except those who study economics.
